Case Study

How congregations can demonstrate care of creation as part of our baptismal covenant.

This case study poses the question of how congregations demonstrate care of creation as part of their baptismal covenant. Resoundingly, although the projects and approaches differ from site to site, respondents all spoke of surprising benefits well beyond care of the environment—better finances, stronger relationships, partnerships in the community—all this in addition to greater stewardship of the earth.

Come along on a tour of a solar farm in Maryland, a rainwater garden in Pennsylvania, a “Good News” vegetable garden in Connecticut, and campus-wide initiatives in both California and Alabama. Whatever the size of your physical plant, however big or small your grounds, you will learn how to make a measurable difference to your church, your community, and the environment through your care for God’s creation.
