Making the Most of Your Vestry Retreat

This webinar took place on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 7:00-8:00PM ET. A recording of the webinar along with a copy of the slides and two other resources are available below.

Vestry retreats are investments of time, energy and (often) money. This one-hour webinar will provide an overview of a design process for vestry retreats that will help you make the most of these investments. In particular, we will talk about:

● Defining the goals of a vestry retreat;
● Whether or not to have an external facilitator or presenter;
● Developing beneficial experiences that engage multiple intelligences to access the wisdom of every vestry member; and
● Using retreat evaluation as a model for evaluation of other parish ministries.

The Rev. Nathan Kirkpatrick, Managing Director of Alban at Duke Divinity School, will be leading this webinar. He has extensive experience designing and facilitating leadership development programs for clergy, congregational and denominational leaders, as well as vestry retreats and parish strategic planning processes. Across his eleven years in the administrative staff at Duke Divinity School, he has worked with urban congregations with thousands of members, with rural congregations that still have functional outhouses, and all manner of congregations in between.
