Experts Help with Your CARES Act Questions

There is a lot of information going around about how individual parishes can take advantage of the payroll protection loans outlined in the CARES Act of 2020. This webinar will provide some clarity and direction for all of us as we explore our options. We will be joined by two tax policy experts based in Washington DC. King Mueller and Larry Campbell have years of experience working through complicated tax legislation and have helped shape the CARES Act and the non-profit sectors response to it.

Panelist bios:

Senator Tim Scott: Senator Scott was instrumental in getting nonprofits and churches included in the CARES act. Senator Scott is the junior senator from South Carolina serving since 2014.

King Mueller is a partner at the Cypress Group government affairs firm focusing on consumer finance, tax policy, and housing. King served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Banking & Finance in the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Legislative Affairs. King was involved in the TARP legislation as well as helping navigate the details of the current CARES act.

Larry Campbell is the Treasurer at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Old Town Alexandria and serves as a senior executive at a major, global accounting firm. Larry's focus for over 25 years has been tax policy and legislation. Larry has been helping his local parish, the Diocese of Virginia, and other institutions in the Episcopal Church navigate the intricacies of the CARE act.

Tamara Plummer is a Program Officer in the US Disaster Program at Episcopal Relief & Development. Her work focuses on supporting the development and maintenance of the Episcopal Asset Map and supporting dioceses before, during and after a disaster. As a life long Episcopalian, Tamara is passionate about how the Episcopal Church is living out Christ's love in their communities. Ms. Plummer is a graduate of Bard College and Bowling Green State University. She enjoys creative writing and playing bassoon in her free time.
