Collecting Our Stories
By Dan Handschy
Is there an epic event or something more intangible that defines your congregation? In Dan Handschy’s “Telling Our Story,” he shares the story of how his congregation began to collect their stories as a way to discover how to respond to a newcomer who asked: “How might I move more deeply into the life of the community?” They weren’t asking for something to do, they wanted to become a part of that ‘something’ that made Church of the Advent unique.

First Impressions
By Kevin Minch
More often people are encountering churches for the first time through a website or social media. How can we create a virtual space that feels welcoming to the stranger?

Going That Extra Mile
By Bob Landry
A present day ‘man on the road to Jericho’ story that reminds us that Christianity is a living thing, that our faith stories of today mirror the ancient stories in the Gospels, and that each of us has the opportunity to follow Christ through our actions.

Perfiles de recién llegados
By Ken Garner

Primeras impresiones
By Kevin Minch

Putting out Signals
By Anna Olson
We send out many signals, both intentionally and unintentionally. How can we become more in tune with these signals and creating those that resonate with our neighbors?

Recopilación de nuestras historias
By Dan Handschy

Weaving Story Into All We Do
By Lucy Owens
Impressed by the warmth, friendliness, and joy found throughout the Grace-St. Luke’s website, I invited Lucy Owens to share their approach with our readers. In “Weaving Story Into All We Do,” Lucy describes a congregation that recognizes sharing stories is one of the most powerful ways to express their commitment and connection to God and to each other.

Why Share Stories?
By Julie Lytle
“Why Share Stories?” by Julie Lytle offers a theological framework for storytelling. She reminds us that as Christians, the stories of God’s presence are both the “ground from which religion emerges and the means by with the Christian faith continues,” and gives us permission to shine our lights brightly rather than hiding them under a bushel basket.

¿Qué está dando a entender?
By Anna Olson
