A Snapshot of our Urban Neighborhood Vestry Retreat
The vestry members of St. Mary's, Mariposa, CA engaged in a unique photo project at a recent vestry retreat. By organizing into groups and taking time to snap photos of their neighborhood, they were able to take a closer look at the area their parish serves.
The following tip sheet offers insights on the purpose of this project, the structure of the retreat, some general tips on photographing one's neighborhood, a list of needed resources and equipment, and more. The Rev. Anna Olson, rector of St. Mary's, Mariposa, writes that the project was intended "to shift our perspective and open our eyes to creative possibilities and creative ways of looking for God at work in our neighborhood and God's call to us as a parish."
