Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Editor's Letter October 2021

Dear Friends,

This month we continue celebrating leaders among us who are engaged in creative and innovative work though the Latino/Hispanic ministries in the Episcopal Church. These stories highlight their love for family, community and art in inspirational ways, lifting up new ways to be a vibrant, diverse family of God’s children.

Latino ministry is a dynamic and growing part of the Episcopal church’s ministry. In Celebrating Latin@/Hispanic Ministry and Leadership, Anthony Guillén, recognizes the incredible leadership and impact LatinX leaders have had over recent years, highlighting their gifts to our church. This article is available in English and Spanish.

Children’s ministry can be both incredibly rewarding and challenging at the same time. In The Route Less Traveled, Anthony Rodriguez narrates his life-changing experience of participating in and then leading children’s ministry, both through pre-pandemic and pandemic times. This article is available in English and Spanish.

In The Holy and Human Process of Making Art, artist Jason Sierra shares his stunning and provocative art, encouraging us to wrestle with symbols, images and words, and not be bound by them – to break them open and embrace the ‘messy truth.’ This article is available in English and Spanish.

Hipólito Fernandez Reina charts his unique journey as a priest in Connected to Family, Connected to God, emphasizing the importance of both personal and spiritual family for support and inspiration along the way. This article is available in English and Spanish.
