Will Scott

The Reverend Will Scott was raised by a teacher and a social worker in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Will graduated from Bard College at Simon's Rock in 2000, during which he also studied for 8 months in India, Tibet, and Nepal. After college, he worked for a book store in Virginia, an environmental nonprofit in Illinois, waited tables in Washington, DC, and participated in the Young Priest Initiative in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. He entered Virginia Theological Seminary in 2001. His seminary fieldwork site, the ecumenical Church of the Savior in Washington, DC, still inspires him. Will was called to Grace Cathedral in 2006 following two years as associate rector at St. John's Episcopal Church in McLean, Virginia.

Will's work at Grace Cathedral included facilitating group discussions and organizing public events focused on the church's witness for peace and justice. He helped found Dinner with Grace, a growing ministry in the Tenderloin and was a regular at the Sunday at Six contemplative service. Will began serving St. Cyprian's 3 1/2 years ago and was instituted as Vicar in 2011. Will and his husband, Matthew Chayt, a lawyer, live near Dolores Park just a 30 minute walk along The Wiggle to St. Cyprian's Church.

Will is also an ECF Fellow.
